Italian GP Qualifying: Verstappen stole the show, new track record 

F1 Italian GP qualifying at Monza saw high fireworks as drivers fought for pole at the Temple of Speed. Max Verstappen and Lando Norris battled at the front, while the Dutch chased the glory. With slipstream tactics and tight margins, the 2025 Italian Grand Prix qualifying set the stage for a thrilling race. Get the full Italian GP qualifying results, highlights from Monza below.

Q1

The first flying lap of the qualifying set by the two Ferraris, Leclerc led by 1:19.801 in front of Hamilton. Then came Norris and Piastri, who dropped to the top of the chart. As time was running the track got faster, and at the half of the part of qualifying a little acceleration started: Russell set the pace on medium tyres and ran the fastest lap, and Sainz came to third, Alonso fourth, Bortoleto seventh. However, in the final minutes Verstappen took a better lap, but no changes in the order happened.

Q2

Verstappen started by 1:19.140 in the middle stage of the session and set the best time on the chart, Russell came for second and Bortoleto for third. During Norris’s flying lap he got a box call from the engineers, in this way the McLaren driver had only one option to complete a clean lap. The Ferraris, Leclerc and Hamilton were standing on fifth and ninth after one lap.

Norris came back to the track and completed a lap, which only meant seventh time before the final shot-out of Q2. The British had to run another lap, which was much faster and he went fifth to the Q3. Antonelli came second, Piastri third, Russell fourth, Leclerc sixth, Bortoleto seventh, meanwhile Hamilton ninth.

Q3

The battle of the pole stage started with Norris’s 1:19.433 and Piastri’s 1:19.056, but Leclerc found more pace and set a 1:19.007 lap, however Verstappen seemed the best, he passed the Monegasque by 0.036s.

Second laps showed another fireworks: Norris set a new track record, but it did not last long, because Verstappen had an even quicker lap, clocking a 1:18.792. The Red Bull driver followed by Norris and Piastri, Leclerc finished fourth.
