Kimi Antonelli secured his first Formula 1 victory in Sanghai after a dramatic start that saw both McLarens fail to start due to technical issues. After a race featuring a safety car, intense Ferrari battles and several position changes at the front, the Mercedes rookie held off George Russell and Lewis Hamilton to claim the win.

During the out laps due to technical issues both McLarens backed to the pit and could not start. Bortoleto and Albon missed the race, too.
Hamilton jumped to leader position at the start, Antonelli turned second ahead of Leclerc, Russell 4th. On Lap 4, Antonelli and Russell got back the 1-2, in front of the Ferraris.
On the 10th lap Stroll stopped the car and the Safety Car deployed – it meant first pit stops. The leader group changed to hard compounds.
The race resumed on Lap 14, when Hamilton overtook Russell. The Mercedes driver lost another position to Leclerc.
Ferraris made some excitement in Lap 24, Leclerc and Hamilton changed positions with spectacular actions: the Monegasque jumped 2nd. The new order: Antonelli was leading, Leclerc, Hamilton, Russell.
After some laps Russell became 2nd, passed the Ferraris, while in Lap 36 Hamilton backed to 3rd.
The last 20 laps brought a smooth period, Antonelli took his first ever F1 victory ahead of Russell and Hamilton. Leclerc finished 4th.
